Bunting and Frolics at The Mechanics Institute

As part of this year's Manchester Histories festival The Mechanics Institute, in association with Band On The Wall will be presenting a week of Folk Music events.

Bunting and Frolics are delighted to announce that we will be headlining the Friday Night Folk Club element of this week of entertainment.

We hope to re-create the atmosphere of those hundreds of small, back-room venues in pubs up and down the country that were the life blood of the Folk Revival in the 60's and 70's.

There will be a chance for 'floor singers' to have their spot and, of course, there will be a raffle at half time!

Hosted by C.P. Lee this promises to be an evening filled with nostalgia and thick with atmosphere, (but without the cigarette smoke!)

The Flowers Of Manchester

It is now 60 years since the devastating Munich Air Crash which took the lives of some of the best young football players of a generation, and also many other non-players who were travelling with the now-legendary Busby Babes.

The powerful musical commemoration 'The Flowers Of Manchester' written by Geoff Higginbottom, tells the story of the events leading up to the crash and the legacy which was left behind.

On Thursday 8th February (just two days after the 60th anniversary) Lymm Folk Club will be hosting a performance by 'Flat Back Four' (Geoff, Bob Ashworth and Martin Gittins) at the Spread Eagle Pub.

We hope to see good crowd there for this event.

Bunting and Frolics will be out and about several times in the coming weeks.
